Rhys Millen and eO Drive Ready to Set a New Electric Record

New electric record pending for Pike's Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC).

Willow Springs: Rhys Millen Racing will return to the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) June 24-26th. Rhys Millen is an outright winner of The Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb. Also known as The Race to the Clouds, it’s the most significant hillclimb in the world. The track measures 12.42 miles (19.99 km) with over 156 turns, climbing 4,720 ft (1,440 m) from the start at Mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway, to the finish at 14,110 ft (4,300 m).

Rhys Millen will drive an all electric race car from eO Drive. In honor of the 100 year anniversary of the PPIHC, the car will be racing as PP100. Rhys Millen, current Red Bull GRC driver, is back to set another record run. The challenge comes after setting the record time for an electric vehicle of 9:07.222 last year. Most importantly electric is closing in on the overall record for Pikes Peak, held by race car driver Sebastien Loeb.

Rhys hit 137 mph (220 kmh) on a short uphill straight on the Willow Springs Street circuit. Combining Rhys Millen driving talent with the engineering experience of Hankook tires, Alcon brakes, Yasa Motors and Drive eO, the team is excited for the race. "It was a very positive test and I’m confident we can turn it up even more on race day. We’re targeting a sub-nine minute run,” said Millen.

Rudi Tuisk, Technical Director of eV Race Systems, said “The Drive eO PP100 is an awesome and well prepared package. The drive eO team have further refined their car since last year’s title run. Anyone who is an engineer, technology builder or innovator should appreciates the challenges of motorsport, the passion and drive of this team. I want to see them win!”
